Questions

  • Observe the red light emitted from a red incandescent light bulb, a red neon sign, or a red LED on a computer or other electronic device.  How does the light differ from that emitted by a red laser pointer?
  • Is it possible to observe something without altering it in at least some small way?  Why or why not?
  • Quantum physics provides the most accurate (currently known) physical description of nature. So why is the "classical" physics developed by Newton still the predominant theory taught and used today?  What is the primary physical attribute of an object that determines if it will exhibit "quantum behavior" ?
  • If two light waves (or quantum matter waves) interfere destructively while traveling in a particular direction, is the light (or matter) destroyed? If so, how?    If not, where does it go?
