Designing Matter category image: people/upc-dyer.jpg

Elizabeth Dyer is a second year in the College of Arts and Sciences from Athens, Georgia.  She hopes to pursue an interdisciplinary major based in anthropology, philosophy and history through which she will explore various schools and cultures of academic thought.  She's especially interested in how one discipline understands and defines another.  Elizabeth took Designing matter last spring and enjoyed her first exposure to the sciences at UVA.  Her grant proposal examined the morning-after pill and its treatment in contrasting political, scientific, and international climates.

Outside of the classroom, Elizabeth likes to play the piano and listen to good music.  But since those two things are too rarely synonymous, Elizabeth is also learning to play music as a rock DJ at WTJU 91.1 FM. (Tune in at one AM for a chance to hear her and, very likely, REM.)  Around grounds, Elizabeth is involved in community service, second year council, and first year seminar facilitation.
